I was in need of cash, so I stupidly responded to an e-mail telling me I could get cash. So I answered their questions; and, yes in a desperate act, I gave them my account info. I am now receiving unemployment compensation. My account is always drained by the time another payment comes. Not Negative. Now, whenever I get a direct deposit, there is some unknown entity that sends an electronic check through my account. But, that’s not the end. My bank puts that check through before my deposit on the same process date. Therefore, my account goes negative long enough for them to impose their $37.50 overdraft charge. And because these entities have my account info it is, to the bank, it’s a legitimate check.
So, I wind up not only losing money to this unscrupulous scam but to the bank. This has happened twice. One was for $31.85 from Security Identity Services. I tried to get info on SIS but nothing. No phone number or address. The other $17.90 had only some initials in the pay to area. According to the bank there is no way to trace them. And, don’t know which of the many e-mails it could be.
My only recourse is to close that account. And the bank tells me that it will re-open if they get an electronic check within 30 days of closing…then I will owe them…$37.50. Also, I’ve blocked the max on by email system and I unsubscribe to all others. I was stupid and I am paying for it.
