Front’in to Fraud

I’d like to file a complaint against National Financial Advisors located in Henderson, Nevada. My boyfriend and I have been trying to get our business started in the towing industry for quite some time now, we have the knowledge and the experience on how to run the business we just needed funds to help us get started to make it happen. I received a call in April of 09 from a Mark Lindburgh from NFA stating that he came across my name on line requesting information about grants. He Said that his company can do that for us. All we had to do was send a partial payment for the retainer fee of $2995.00 now to get started leaving us a balance of $6505.00 due thirty days after we received a minimum of $100,000.00 in grant funding.

He was very adamant and sounded very sincere about how dedicated they would be in getting a grant for our business.I spoke to my boyfriend about it and he was very skeptical about doing anything on line especially involving sending money. So the next time I spoke to Mark Lindburgh I told him that my boyfriend would like to know more about your company, your establishments and your references. Mark was very understanding and provided me with the information on his company. Everything seem to check out okay. Then I received an e-mail from a John Goldberg from NFA it was a letter congratulating me for being approved for a business grant in the amount of $189,000.00.

But before they could fund me they first needed me to fax them additional documentation of the “funding request form” that I had to print out, sign it and attach a copy of the check for $2995.00 that i would be using for my deposit. Before I knew it Mark Lindburgh was calling me (again) reassuring me that they would take care of everything but they needed to make sure I was serious about this and by doing that I had to fed-ex a check for $2995.00 within 3 days to avoid denial of my business grant and possible forfeiture of my grant money. The next day I sent the check and waited to hear from them. I checked with my bank and the check had been cashed 5 days from the day I sent it to them.

I would email Mark inquiring about my payment and he said their accounts department would be calling me soon to confirm payment and let me know what my next step would be. It took about 2 weeks til I received confirmation that they received it. I had to call Mark again to ask him ‘what now?” He said I would be assigned to one of their project managers and he will be sending me a “Welcome Packet” with information on the steps to getting started. Now I started to question them, because I thought I accomplished step one by sending them the check to get started. And on to step two, now I’m back on step one?! I finally received the Welcome Packet at the end of June. It requested information about what I will be using my grant money on.

So I sent them an Itemized list on what we needed to get our business started. Now 4 months later I am not able to get in touch with anyone directly. Just a recorder to leave my message and still haven’t received a return call. Here is a summarized list with the any communitive incidents that occured with NFA and myself:

04/23/09 First call from Mark Lindburgh (Senior Grant Analyst) NFA
4/30/09 Email from John Goldberg (Grant Specialist) NFA
06/08/09 E mail from Mark Lindburgh Stating,”reassures that all their work is guaranteed and if they somehow drop the ball on my file i will be entitled to a refund”
06/09/09 Fed-Ex a check for $2995.00 (partial retainer fee)
06/27/09 Phone call from Mike Jones (Director Of Operations) confirming they recieved check.
06/30/09 Recieved “welcome Packet” in the mail.
10/15/09 Writing a complaint against NFA

Is there anything we can do to get our money back from them? It’s been 6 months from the day we got involved with them and today we are struggling and still havent been able to come close to getting our business started. I hope after reading this and realizing how they work that there is something beneficial to come to all the innocent people they got over on.

I also had the same story happen to me. I feel like a fool and I let my family down. Writing anymore about it makes me sick. Please let me know if I will ever see the money I worked hard for.
