Scammed by Kathleen Janitschek

NOTE: Please look below this report for comments by the company, individuals, employees, ex-employees and victims, if there are any. They may contain invaluable and important updates about this case.

I would like to report a case of fraud by a woman named Kathleen Janitschek. Her son Marco Janitschek responded to an request for housing I posted on Berlin’s Craigslist (http://berlin.en.craigslist.de/). Marco sent me a scan of his passport and I sent him a scan of mine. To secure the room for rent in the apartment, Marco asked me to send 1000 Euro to his mother, Kathleen Janitschek, in London via Western Union. I sent the money and she received it. Of course, I never heard from Marco or his mother ever again and I lost the 1000 Euro.

Here is the information Marco gave me about his mother:

KATHLEEN JANITSCHEK
44 Saffron Hill
EC1N 8QX
London, England, United Kingdom

There must really be a Kathleen Janitschek if she was able to successfully retrieve the 1000 Euro at Western Union. I’m desperate for your help in this matter. Thank you and I hope that something can be done about this terrible scam.

I can pretty much guarantee that there i no such person and they just used a fake name with fake credentials to get the money. You will not see the money again. Unfortunately, I must also tell you that you made another BIG mistake in sending a scan of your passport! Their next mark could very well be sending the money to someone with YOUR name and their own photo on a fake Passport or other form of ID. Caveat emptor!
