I sold an item on ebay on May 7th to MATHIA HEMPRICH of Germany. Shortly there after the man said he did not receive the mask in the picture. I knew there was no way this could happen, but said I may have made a mistake, but ASKED HIM TO SEND PICS, SO I COULD SEE WHAT HE HAD GOTTEN. I told him that he could either send the mask back and I would refund the money, or I could remake the mask. He said he would like me to remake the mask. I said I would, just send the mask back to me and I would get started on the other mask. He said for me to send the $ back and then he would resedn it when he got the new mask. I told him I couldn’t until I received the mask back. He then filed a complaint with Paypal. I responded that I would give him the refund if he sent the mask back. I then called paypal and told them that I thought he was pulling a scam. They said for me to go ahead and escalate the claim and he would have to send it back to get his money. I told them on June 1st when I filed the claim that I was scared he would send me an empty box back and still get his money. They assured me that would not happen. In the meantime, he emailed me saying to either give him 50% off or he would push this. I called 5-6 times from june 1st -today (July 10th) telling paypal that I was scared this would happen. I mailed the mask in a 12×12x8 box. Today, I got a 5×7 envelope in the mail. I knew it was from him so I asked my postman to watch me open it. He saw that there was a wad of folded up newspapers in there and that it was fraud. I called paypal and they said the tracking showed that a package from him HAD been delivered, so they gave him the $135 back!!! They said my word, photos of the packege and its contents and the word of the US Federal employee were NOT sufficient “evidence” that he hadn’t sent it back, but that the tracking number was sufficent to show he sent it back! Then, they said the only thing I could do was file an appeal after I filed a police report. I am doing that today, but he got a $135 refund AND kept the mask he essentially stole. Paypal has all the emails and phone calls to verify this information, as well as Ebay. In addition, my postman said he would verify that I got a small envelope with newspapers in it in the package that was to have been the mask. However, paypal said they could not take the money back from him, and that there was nothing they could do. So, essentially, they said he could STEAL!!!
